How does a website like JargonFreePensions come about? Good question — and in fact there’s a good answer. Well, an answer, anyway. It all started in an isolated restaurant way out in the backwoods of Manchester on one of the rainiest nights of the first decade of the twenty-first century. Sharing a meal at the height of the storm were two people: Paul Hogarth, aka the King of Distribution and Steve Bee, sometime pensions guru. Their late-night conversation went something like this:
“There ought to be a website about pensions that anyone would be able to use!”
“Yeah!”
“We’re probably the best two people in the country to put it together.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“Shall we do it then?”
“Yeah, why not?”
The rest, as they say, is history; or hysterical — depending on which way you look at it…
Paul Hogarth
